Rendezvous Mal’adresse was a site-specific installation.  It took place in San Sebastian, Spain.  San Sebastian is a resort town right in the Basque region and has a reputation for romantic rendezvous.  I selected three locations that were used for rendezvous.  At each location, I scripted and produced a fictional rendezvous scene with people I met at the site.  

I made photographic recordings of the scene and made them into a series of three photomontages.  I then framed each photomontage and installed them next to the preexisting phone booth.  In addition, I attached a voice-recording machine behind the frame.  People used the voice recording to leave and play back personal messages.
