Dressing Room was an installation with a live person projecting a video inside of a locked dressing room. The dressing room was located at the Context Studio where choreographer DD Dorvillier presented the piece entitled “No Change.” The installation occurred every night before and after the performance.
The video contained recordings of two performers and myself sitting in the same dressing room. My directions to the performers as well as to myself were to sit and meditate about the piece “No Change.” The third performer, Michael, projected the video onto the exact wall where we sat for the video recording.
The installation had two sources of audio. The first source came from the projected video and contained edited conversations I had with people during the production period of “No Change.” It included my conversations with cast members as well as with my boxing trainer. The second source was the live voice of Michael as he projected the video. Unfortunately, I did not record Michael’s voice, so it’s not included in the following video.
